Proud Theater-Green Bay 2022-23 Season Kicks Off September 27, 2022

Proud Theater-Green Bay is back in action with an exciting opportunity for LGBTQIA+ and allied youth to explore themselves and their identities through theater, music, dance, and spoken word in a safe, fun, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Proud Theater-Green Bay is open to youth ages 13‐18 who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community or whose parents are LGBTQIA+. Rehearsals will be held at the Brown County Public Library-Central Library (515 Pine Street, Green Bay, WI 54301) starting Tuesday, September 27, 2022, 4-6. Rehearsals will run every week during the school year.

There are no auditions, applications, or fees for being part of Proud Theater, and youth don’t need to have any prior arts experience. Youth don’t need to commit to the entire season—they can come to any rehearsal and try it out for a week or a couple weeks and see if it’s for them. Snacks will be served at each rehearsal. More information is available in an FAQ about joining.

Founded in 1999, Proud Theater is an award‐winning, exciting, and innovative youth theater program whose mission is ‘to change the world through the power of theater and the theater arts, and to make a positive difference in the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth through the tenets of art, heart, and activism’. Empowering and creative, Proud Theater encourages youth to share their personal stories through the creation of original theatrical works, which they then present to the community at large throughout the school year. Traditionally, the group ends each season with a culminating showcase production.

There are three chapters of Proud Theater in Wisconsin, including in Green Bay, Madison, and Wausau.

COVID‐19 safety protocols will be observed based on city, state, CDC, and national guidelines.

Proud Theater is a program of Art & Soul Innovations. The upcoming 2022-23 season is sponsored through generous financial support from the LaForce Family Foundation, the SPL Legacy Foundation, and from many community members, partnerships, and organizations around the state.
