About Proud Theater-Wausau
Proud Theater-Wausau is currently on hiatus.
Proud Theater-Wausau was started in 2011 as Proud Theater’s second ever chapter. We serve youth ages 13-19 throughout Central and Northcentral Wisconsin and community members of all ages through community programming.
Proud Theater-Wausau has collaborated on a number of different community events in the past, including Wausau’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Dinner, a youth open mic, and a trans clothing swap in partnership with Wausau Transfam. We’ve also been to prides in Rhinelander and Stevens Point.
Youth in Proud Theater-Wausau have come from several different schools, including Wausau East High School, Wausau West High School, John Muir Middle School, D.C. Everest Senior High, Marathon High School, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School.
We’re proud of our story, that we get to call Wausau home, and that we’re able to support queer youth and our broader community.

Director
Kaya Saia (she/they) is a Director for Proud Theater-Wausau. As a former Proud Theater-Madison youth and a lifelong activist, Kaya aims to continue supporting queer youth in new ways, recognizing the systemic issues that face marginalized communities, and working to intentionally create equitable and inclusive spaces.
